I freaking love Space Battleship Yamato.

Saraba, chikyuu yo...

Never in my life have I suddenly became such a fan of an anime than this franchise. Space Battleship Yamato, or "Star Blazers" as most people know it was a groundbreaking series when it started in 1974, going so far as to influence many other works after it, and then came back in 2012 with a remake series called Space Battleship Yamato 2199.

This remake series is bloody brilliant.

It's been a long time coming here properly, as the rights holders in Japan had tried it once before and failed, but now Funimation has it and being able to see it has been a goddamn treat for me. Every episode felt like a movie. I came out of episode 26 with my eyes feeling glazed over like I had seen a good film. You might cry while watching this show. I know it sounds ridiculous but it is VERY emotional. It grips you and never lets go.

I'd say it's very well worth watching. Go watch it now. Do it.

On pinball, or "I seriously can't think of a post to start this with"

Twilight Zone

I got back into pinball a while back, no thanks to a documentary called Special When Lit, and it's such an interesting thing to experience. It's considered to be the forerunner to video games, but it's more physical than a video game since you're dealing with moving parts and nudging the machine around. I'm not too great at it but I do know some of the fundamentals like using the flippers properly (there's a whole bunch of techniques for catching and holding the ball) and I've put up decent scores:

My highest score on Medieval Madness

It's great fun, and the best thing is the one place that has a bunch of machines (22 as of now) is only a few miles from where I live.
